Breaking Free: The Power of Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone

I am a man that likes to stay in my comfort zone. Who doesn’t? If we are all honest, most people or at least introverts like me, live in their comfort zone….the question to ask………is that hurting ourselves more than helping ease our anxiety?

When I think about my past, and remember all the times that I was brave enough to step outside my comfort zone, I begin to realize that my biggest problem is myself. I block my own path for growth and success, and I am held captive inside my own self-imprisonment, My comfort zone is my prison. My freedom is within reach if I force myself to be strong and step out into the world without a safety net and just go for it.

My growth and success has all come from strength to step outside what is comfortable and to do the scary thing, which is to put myself out there. I am still struggling, but this self made prison is one of the strongest in the world. Some would say I am stubborn that way. I desperately try to evolve and move out of my own way and expand my experience, but it only has a 10-20% success rate ( which leaves a 80-90% failure rate) – not the best odds. But none the less, I strive to leave my comfort zone and it is a great comfort zone of warmth, with a bright shiny glow, but what I lack is life’s experience. New experiences, new friendships, and new relationships is what I am missing and it is what life is suppose to be.

There is a trade-off for moving away from your comfort zone to experiencing new things. The trade-off for not experiencing life outside the comfort zone comes with not having anxiety that raises the stress level which can have negative health effects. Therefore it can actually kill us to experience things outside our comfort zone.

I may not experience life, but I will live longer……
